Adiós, adieu, addio, adeus, aloha, arrivederci, ciao, auf Wiedersehen, au revoir, bon voyage, sayonara, shalom, totsiens, vale, and zaijain. So long, Lakeview!
We have had a marvelous time over the last 14 years in Lakeview. It has been a home to InVision and to many of our staff and students. It is a vibrant part of the Chicago community, and home to our World Champion Chicago Cubs. But like all good things, it must come to an end.
The Lakeview neighborhood is growing and there are billions of dollars being poured in, creating tremendous change. The Cubs stadium alone has had $500 million in renovations in the last 3 years and it is just 3 blocks from InVision. In addition the Chicago Transit Authority's Red Line renovation is happening directly behind the Lakeview building (I mean literally 6 feet away) this fall. It is a $1.2 Billion investment from the Federal, State, and City governments to modernize our rail system.
And because of this new Red Line Renovation, we will soon be asked by the city and the CTA to move out. Our building at 3340 N. Clark Street is a casualty of this improvement and they will be tearing it down to make way for our new rail system.
As it turns out, it could not have worked out more perfectly for us: Our lease has come to an end and we are ready to move out, too. InVision is growing and we have transitioned into a primarily online organization; we are being seen in a new light. Located now in the heart of the city, we are right where we belong!
We have evolved from a local psychic school on the north side of Chicago to a World Class online organization with students both domestically throughout the U.S. and internationally in Europe and Asia. And our new facilities downtown in River North reflect that.
It's almost like we were psychic and saw this coming... So we will be closing our Lakeview facility on May 31st, 2017. All InVision offices and resources will be housed in our River North location. Essentially, we have been teaching everything out of here for most of this semester anyway. We are moving on by creating and destroying. We practice what we preach.
So, it is an end of an era. We will be holding several special events upcoming on weekends in May in Lakeview. Look to our Events page in the near future for more information and dates. It is our farewell tour for InVision Lakeview and we would love for you to be part of it. You can collect up your energy, so that you too can move forward with grace and gratitude for a most marvelous experience.
Thank you Lakeview. The time has passed so quick, we feel like we hardly had a chance to know you. ~ Kenneth Jones, Founder of InVision
